This time, we will only review the iPhone 15 Pro Max as a variant at the top level of the iPhone 15 series.

iPhone 15 Pro Max: Promised Improvements

The iPhone 15 Pro Max seems to be proof of the update that Apple said. There are three major improvements among other updates, they are a titanium frame, USB-C, and a tetraprism sensor. To find out about the iPhone 15 Pro Max, see the following complete review for consideration before deciding to buy.

Design

The design of the iPhone 15 Pro Max is still similar to previous generations, with changes in color, frame material, and lighter weight. The color options are available in 4 colors, such as Natural Titanium, Black Titanium, White Titanium, and Blue Titanium

The 15 Pro Max weighs only 221 grams, 19 grams lighter than the 14 Pro Max. Even though the screen size is the same, the body of the 15 Pro Max is slightly smaller with dimensions of 159.9 x 76.7 x 8.3 mm due to changes to the screen sector.

Titanium material is also used as the frame for the iPhone 15 Pro Max. Titanium is more resistant to corrosion, and heat resistance, and makes the sides of the body less easily dirty or scratched.

Screen

The screen size of the iPhone 15 Pro Max is 6.7 inches with an LTPO OLED panel, high resolution, adaptive 120Hz refresh rate, and Always On Display feature. Screen protection is also superior with the Ceramic Shield layer from Corning which is said to be the strongest to absorb impacts and reduce the potential for rupture.

The four sides of the screen bezel are also made thinner if you look closely. The appearance of this side bezel can be seen when compared to the previous generation iPhone, but it is not very significant.

Camera

For the first time, Apple introduced a telephoto sensor with further zoom by embedding a 5x optical zoom periscope telephoto (120mm) on the iPhone 15 Pro Max. It is an exclusive “tetraprism” design with f/2.8 aperture, other camera resolutions are 48MP f/1.8 main sensor and 12M f/2.2 ultra-wide autofocus. Regarding the 5x zoom sensor, you can photograph distant objects more clearly, even up to 20x as long as the lighting is abundant.

The best part is the video recording. All existing cameras can record up to 4K 60fps, or 4K 30fps Cinematic mode, and 2.8K 60fps Action Mode for stable recording such as using a stabilizer. The 5x zoom sensor stabilization can reduce shaking when taking videos in vlogging format. If you use cinematic mode, you can only use the main sensitivity, a maximum of 3x digital zoom, which can be changed during the recording process.

Feature

Some of the software is not only new, but there are additional StandBy modes, Contact Posters, and Action Button customization, which is a button that is mute by default, but you can customize it via the Settings menu. Some other features of the iPhone 15 Pro Max are:

• Notch Dynamic Island

The appearance of Dynamic Island is in the form of a slim and elongated capsule. Its function is for the front camera panel, face ID, and accessing notifications, alerts, and applications running in the background. Apple claims Dynamic Island can accommodate more activities than the previous notch series.

• Always On Display

This is a feature that allows the screen to still display various information even though the screen is turned off, such as time, date, and notifications. You can adjust the display on the screen yourself with several display options:

  • Notifications only
  • Lockscreen wallpaper only
  • Lockscreen wallpaper and notifications
  • Disable the lock screen and notifications, so it’s just a black background with the time display and widgets that you set on the lock screen.

• USB-C

This is the first time Apple has used a USB-C connector on the iPhone 15 series, so the range of use is wider because the Type C connector is a standard feature in the cellphone industry. The power used by USB-C on the iPhone 15 Pro Max is 29 Watts.

Performance

The iPhone 15 Pro Max has three internal memory sizes, including 8 GB / 256 GB, 8 GB / 512 GB and 8 GB / 1 TB NVMe. This variant uses the Apple A17 Pro chip, with a significant improvement in the form of using 3nm fabrication with a CPU clock speed of up to 3.78Hz.

The difference in the performance of the iPhone 15 Pro Max compared to the others is that the temperature is cooler with software that fixes the overheating bug. The visuals are excellent for heavy gaming use. The hot temperature didn’t seem to interfere with the game, which is understandable considering that the 15 Pro Max is not a gaming smartphone.

Battery

The battery life of the iPhone 15 Pro Max is still the same as the previous model, but with a capacity of 4,441 mAh, the 15 Pro Max battery is more durable than the previous generation. It’s just that charging to reach the first 50% takes 30 minutes and it takes 90 minutes more to reach 100%.

iPhone 15 Pro Max provides a maximum charging option of 80% which can be set via the Settings menu. It just doesn’t have reverse wireless charging yet, but you can still charge it by connecting the USB-C cable from the iPhone 15 Pro Max to the USB-C of another device, such as AirPods or Apple Watch.

Conclusion

The iPhone 15 Pro Max’s improved features make it a fun phone for everyday use. Especially the lightweight, reliable camera, and the presence of the USB-C feature. You can get the iPhone 15 Pro Max for prices starting from $1,199.
